Youth Diabetes Action (YDA), established in 2001, is a dedicated NGO committed to enhancing the lives of young people with diabetes and their families in Hong Kong. Through continuous support, innovative programmes, education, advocacy, and financial assistance, YDA plays a vital role in the community. We are currently seeking a passionate and strategic full-time CEO to lead our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to elevate awareness and drive meaningful change in a critical area of public health, as diabetes rates continue to rise across Hong Kong.
Key responsibilities:
- Leadership and governance : Drive the organisation toward its mission and vision by setting clear goals and objectives, while ensuring effective governance through active engagement and communication with the Council (board)
- Team management : Lead, manage, recruit, train, and evaluate a diverse team of 10+ individuals, ensuring optimal allocation of responsibilities and fostering professional growth
- Partnership development : Collaborate closely with prominent medical professionals, strategic partners, patients, parents, and volunteers to enhance programme effectiveness and community outreach
- Reporting and risk management : Provide the Council with timely, comprehensive reports and recommendations, while effectively assessing and managing internal and external risks, ensuring financial oversight
- Programme alignment and development : Ensure all programmes align with YDA’s mission and proactively develop new services to address evolving community needs
- Opportunity identification : Recognise challenges and opportunities, cultivating relationships that promote organisational growth and enhance the wellbeing of service users
- Strategic goal achievement : Meet strategic objectives related to fundraising, productivity, programme management, advocacy, and financial reserves
- Donor relations : Build and maintain strong connections with donors to secure sustainable funding for ongoing initiatives
Professional requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, or equivalent experience
- Over 10 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role focused on people management, advocacy, and organisational development
- Preferred experience in the not-for-profit sector, with a proven track record in securing funding from diverse sources, including government bodies. Experience supporting individuals within a health-related context is advantageous
- Strong public speaking abilities and exceptional interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder relationship management
- Experience in branding, marketing, and social media management is a plus
- Fluency in both Chinese and English
