Hosting an event

How do I host my own Summer Splash party?

It’s easy! Find out more on the Plan your event page.

You can choose to hold your party in-person or virtually. There is a minimum donation to be a Summer Splash Host.

If you choose to do it in-person, you can either:

  • organise your own catering
  • order catering through YDA – each caterer's menu varies in price and servings so please pay close attention before ordering to ensure you have enough. You can view the full YDA Menu here.

All we ask is that you hold your event before the 31st August 2021 and you raise as much money as you can during your event(s). You need to sign up to have your event officially recognised as a YDA Summer Splash party. Once your registration has been confirmed you will receive acknowledgement from YDA.

Do I need to charge my guests?

If you are ordering food through YDA – there is a minimum donation of HK$2,000 to be a Summer Splash Host, the cost of the food, and plus any additional extras. Each menu varies in price and the number of people it serves.  Please pay close attention before ordering. The set menus cannot be altered.

If you are organising your own catering – there is a donation of HK$5,000 to be a YDA Summer Splash Host.

Therefore, it’s up to you how much you want to charge your guests, especially if you are preparing your own food.

All we ask is that you raise as much money as possible, as all money raised will be going towards supporting children with diabetes and their families in Hong Kong.

Can I host a Summer Splash party in another country?

Yes! However, the food menus are only available to Hosts in Hong Kong. You are very welcomed to host your Summer Splash party in your own country by preparing your own food. There is a minimum donation of HK$5,000 to be a Summer Splash Host.

Sign up and tell us when and where you’ll host your own event. We’ll send you information via email about how to send the money raised to us.

Can I hold more than one Summer Splash party?

Yes, of course. Please register each event separately via the online sign up form or contact us directly to make an arrangement. There is a minimum donation to be a Summer Splash Host.

What do I need to know when hosting a Summer Splash party under the current pandemic restrictions?

It is the responsibility of the Host, not YDA, to follow the current social distancing restrictions and take the necessary precautionary COVID-19 measures when organising a Summer Splash party.

It is not against the law to host a party at your home or private premises under the regulations for the COVID-19 pandemic. But we want everyone to be safe and healthy, so we suggest you carry out precautions for the party:

  • Provide all necessary hygiene supplies at the party venue – hand hygiene stations, hand sanitiser or soap and water, tissues, closed-lid bins, distance markers, masks
  • Measure the temperature of your guests when they enter the party venue
  • Wash hands frequently with soap and water, or with hand sanitiser
  • Wear masks when not eating or drinking
  • Brief guests about precautions before the event starts; during the event, remind guests of these precautions and ensure they are followed

(Suggestions from WHO )
